Special Doors

These are three types of “special doors” – pocket, cased opening and concealed. I use pocket doors when a door is mostly either closed most of the time or it is open.

These doors are not for high traffic and are used mostly for room separations. If there’s no need for a door at all to separate two spaces, I’ll use a large wall opening and trim it out with door casings.

If I need a door, but don’t want it to be part of the space, I use a “concealed door”, especially for storage closets.
